A comprehensive eye examination can determine if a patient is suffering from dry eyes. Specially formulated eye drops called artifical tears is the most common form of treatment, however prescription drops called "restatis" can be prescribed for moderate to severe dry eye patients also with insertion of tiny plugs into the tear drainage canal in the innner corner of each bottom eye lid.
