What is Lasik:

Laser Assisted In-Situ Keratomileasis (Lasik) is a laser procedure that can reshape the surface of the eye in order to reduce the amount of nearsighted, farsighted, or Astigmatism. LASIK is an outpatient procedure which usually takes less than one minute to perform per eye. Now the procedure is done with a special laser to create the flap along with another type of laser that reshapes the cornea. The procedure is done with eye drop anesthesia.
After the procedure is completed, most patients can return to work the very next day. Vision continues to improve up to three months after the procedure.

Advantages of Lasik:

  • Outpatient procedure with rapid recovery
  • Most patient have clear vision without the hassle of corrective lenses

Disadvantages:

  • A glaze, halos around bright lights, or a haze may occur for a few months
  • Vision may become worse or astigmatism may develop.
  • Post operative dry eyes.
  • Recovery can be uncomfortable for a small percentage of patients
